Divers Get More at Anthony's Key with Caradonna’s Two-For-One Specials

We have partnered with one of the world's top dive resorts to create exceptional deals on dive packages that showcase some of the Caribbean's best reefs, wrecks and marine life encounters. For 50 years, the number one choice for divers visiting the Honduran island of Roatan has been Anthony's Key Resort, or, as the locals call it, AKR. From modest beginnings as a dedicated dive lodge, AKR has grown into a full-service resort that provides a broad spectrum of services and experiences for divers and non-divers alike. This includes everything from water sports, dolphin encounters, snorkel trips and land adventures to junior diving programs, advanced and specialty courses, and career development programs that lead to Divemaster and Instructor credentials.

A major appeal of AKR is convenience. Everything needed for a memorable dive and beach vacation is located in a village-like setting overlooking a coral-ringed lagoon. Guest have a choice of waterfront bungalows set on a private island or hillside accommodation with sweeping views of the lagoon. Dive packages include all meals, which are served at the resort's acclaimed hillside restaurant. In addition to a varied daily menu, the chefs can also accommodate most special dietary requests such as vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free diets. On-site amenities at AKR include a swimming pool, two bars, a gift shop, a water sports center and the Ixora Spa. AKR is also the headquarters for the Roatan Institute for Marine Sciences, which is an international-recognized institution dedicated to the study of tropical marine ecosystems and bottlenose dolphins.

All guest accommodations at AKR are conveniently located for easy access to the dive center, where the island's largest and most modern fleet of boats await. From the AKR base on the island's northwest corner, these boats fan out three times daily to visit dozens of prime reefs, where coral formations can rise to within 20 feet of the surface. Also, on the schedule are walls, a shark dive and two of Roatan's signature wrecks, the El Aguila and the Odyssey. Divers wanting even more bottom time can check out tanks for shore dives on the house reef known as the Front Porch, and participate in twice-weekly night dives.

At 300 feet in length, the Odyssey is the largest wreck in the Bay Islands. Rising from a depth of 120 to within 40 feet of the surface, it is suitable for all divers.

Shark encounters at Anthony's Key are not the typical feeding frenzy, and instead, give divers a chance to observe the animals in a more relaxed setting.

Though diving activity usually takes center stage, there's plenty more to do after the dive. This is great for couples, families or groups traveling with non-divers. AKR operates a dedicated snorkeling boat, and the Roatan Institute for Marine Sciences offers a range of programs and lectures on coral reef ecology, fish identification, mangrove ecology, dolphin science, the natural history of the Bay Islands and more. Paddleboards and kayaks are available for exploring the lagoon and coast and guests have access to AKR's private beach club and dolphin lagoon on Bailey's Key. There is twice-weekly live entertainment at the Frangipani Bar, and a weekly Island Fiesta with special foods, games, alive band and performances by native Garifuna dancers. Along with AKR's resort staff, we can also arrange for a number of island adventures, from canopy tours to horseback rides and golfing, as well as more far-ranging excursions to the Honduran mainland for trips to forest reserves, whitewater adventures, shopping excursions and visits to ancient Mayan cities.

Dolphin programs at the Roatan Institute for Marine Sciences give swimmers, snorkelers and divers a rare opportunity to interact with these marine mammals in a more natural setting.
