One of the most beautiful travel destinations on Earth would have to be the islands of Fiji. This south pacific nation is made up of over three hundred and thirty islands and over five hundred smaller islets, of which over one hundred of these are populated. The sea is an integral part of life, culture and history for Fiji, and you can see the influence of the ocean no matter where you are. It’s quite simply… amazing. There is no better way to describe it than that, and Fiji can be quite the magical place!
The White Wall is special, even amongst all the incredible dive sites and other spectacular marvels that you can visit while in Fiji. To truly see it, you have to enter a lava tube at low tide, a natural burrowed hole through the rock that occurred eons ago. From there, you can take one of two exits that will bring you right to the edge of the deep wall, shimmering and pearly from the quintessential soft corals from which the White Wall derives its name. As part of the famous Rainbow Reef, White Wall offers a change of pace and a challenging dive that can push even veteran divers. That’s why, for safety purposes, this site should only be attempted by Advanced Open Water divers.
Timing is also vital for this site, more so than most dives. At low tide, the iconic white corals reach out, using the current to eat, and so it's the only time of the day that you will be able to see their incredible beauty and frosted feeders. At any other time in the tide, the corals are resting, and appear closer to brown and squashed. Though the white corals aren’t the only thing you will see on this dive! Alongside them, you may also see colorful sponges, reef sharks, turtles, anemones, barracuda, and many varieties of species of reef fish.
There are many amazing hotels and resorts that you could enjoy while adventuring in the deep blue around Fiji, but one of the best has to be paradise itself, Paradise Taveuni Resort. Just south of the White Wall, as well as more than thirty other dive sites, Paradise Taveuni is an oceanfront luxury resort, blending traditional Fiji culture with modern amenities.
