Unprecedented Access to the Galápagos Archipelago

Caradonna and BigAnimals Global Expeditions have secured special permission to explore the Galápagos for extended weeks to a total of 14 days. This allows participants to devote more time to diving the waters of remote Wolf and Darwin Islands, and to combine these diving activities with shore excursions across the archipelago to capture the unique photo opportunities provided by the endemic species of Galápagos.

Cruises depart from the largest island, Isabela, for a 100-mile cruise to Darwin and Wolf. Because there is no land access to either of these small, rugged islands, the only visitors are a limited number of scuba divers. Two-week trips are scheduled from August to October, which is the prime time for underwater action for hammerheads and whale sharks. Also in the mix are aerobatic giant mantas, curious Galápagos sharks, silky and black tip sharks, bottlenose dolphins, and schools of yellowfin tuna chasing mackerel bait balls.

On the way to and from the outlying islands, participants will have the chance for shore visits to witness and photograph unique endemic species such as marine iguanas, frigate birds, blue-footed boobies, Galápagos sea lions, penguins and the endangered giant tortoise.

This trip is organized as Conservation Partnership Expeditions with Fins Attached. 20 percent of the trip price is tax-deductible, and guests will have immersive educational experiences with onboard researchers, scientists, photographers and journalists. The conservation goal is to collect information to create a safe Eastern Pacific shark corridor.
