The Raja Ampat region of Indonesia is rapidly becoming one of the "hottest" places to dive on the planet. Since it is relatively new to dive tourism, it is facing some of the same problems (anchor damage, destructive fishing practices, etc.) other destinations now manage effectively. The solution is probably an MPA (Marine Protected Area), and great strides are being made to pull together the private, public...

Our Dominica Trip

We arrived via San Juan into Melville Airport on 9/15/07, through the mountains and over the woods. Honestly you wonder where there's a flat piece of land. We transferred to Ft Young a very nice hotel on the island about one hour and 15 minutes from the airport. They drive on the left and the scenery is quite beautiful. The airport is currently under going construction. The island is extremely rugged and not overly developed. Really the draw here is great diving and land based eco tours...

Our best dives were on the first and last days when the currents were the strongest. The diving was very good but there is a night and day difference in the level of fish activity between strong current and slack tide dives...
