The Baja Peninsula of Mexico is sandwiched between the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean in an area that is famous for its big animal encounters including mantas, whale sharks and hammerheads. Lively Cabo San Lucas is a hot bed of activity from sport-fishing and virtually all water sports to world class golf, numerous clubs and restaurants and great shopping. Whale-watching is also practically a year-round activity in Baja. More than 20 species of whales are encountered in this region throughout the year including the world’s largest creature, the magnificent blue whale as well as humpbacks, sperm whales and large concentrations of grey whales who come to the Sea of Cortez to breed and calve.
