Trip to Naia 2009
Our trip was wonderful! The Naia was everything we expected and more! The ship is beautiful - immaculate and very well cared for. We were treated like VIPs; they made our beds every morning, cleaned the cabin (which was quite spacious and comfortable) every day and even turned down our beds each night and left mints! The food was very good and plentiful – even my son, Tom who has a hearty appetitite got enough to eat!
The crew was outstanding, friendly, helpful and anticipated every need. The divemasters were excellent, very knowledgeable and lots of fun. The diving was spectacular (Tom is spoiled now, too!) and the village visit was very neat. I can't say enough good about the whole experience and we highly recommend Naia!
The Raffles Gateway Hotel was very nice for our day room in Nadi prior to our 10pm departure flight, that worked out very well and I highly recommend it. They have a large pool and even a water slide!
The only problem was with our carry-ons. Remember that I was concerned about Air Pacific's 7 kg weight limit? There was no problem going from LAX to Nadi, but on the return, they were very strict (actually the guy was quite snotty), so we had to check one of our carry-ons with the camera housings, etc.
We were pretty concerned, but everything came through OK. When we checked it and explained what was in that bag, they handled it as priority baggage, so that probably helped. I would let travelers know that this could happen to them, so they won't be surprised and upset. Otherwise, Air Pacific was fine.
All in all, it was a wonderful trip! The weather in Fiji was absolutely spectacular. Thanks for your help with the trip. Sincerely, Mary Jane Wagner
